Principal Hardware Engineer
Job description
As the Principal Hardware Engineer at Carica, you’ll have the chance to help shape the future and deliver a battery-free alternative for powering wearable electronics. Your work will focus on system- and component-level design and development of energy harvesting power supplies for wearable electronic devices. Working in a rapid prototyping space, you will focus on technical contributions to the power supply, propose and implement novel hardware design solutions and meet project deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Working with design engineering, you will collaboratively define system requirements and functional specs and translate that to a hardware design that is functional and attractive
- Design and develop hardware components for new products
- Prepare design documentations, requirements specifications and PCB models
- Develop the hardware architecture for new hardware component systems and ensure compatibility and integration with the software
- Design/select AC-DC circuit to optimize performance of device
- Develop and maintain bill of materials
Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) and a minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Wearable electronics experience
- Power electronics experience
- Experience with hardware design and testing
- Experience with AC-DC circuits
- Experience with design and development of power electronics for energy storage systems
- Firmware development for power electronics systems
- Experience with prototyping from concept to design to manufacturing
- Experience working with analog and digital circuits, power systems, microcontrollers and sensors
- Proficient in the use of electrical design CAD tools
- Demonstrated ability to successfully serve as a technical lead for hardware development
- Experience or desire to be in a dynamic startup environment
